While much of Kenya's development is taking place in the cities, we work in rural schools to empower teachers and school leaders through training and coaching, so that every student is equipped with the skills to thrive.

Update: successful transition of projects to communities

Since the beginning of our work in 2018, our Community Projects have empowered individuals and communities to take full ownership of their development. Our widows' groups are now self-sustaining and no longer require our intervention, a testament to the power of community-led development.
Likewise, local community volunteers are now fully equipped and well-trained to lead Jiggers eradication, treatment, and prevention efforts without Pursue’s direct support.

These Community Projects have achieved what we had envisioned: Long-term sustainability under their own leadership. We are proud of everyone involved and celebrate their progress!

In 2025, we are focusing our resources on our Education programmes, working to strengthen school systems so that every child has the opportunity to learn and thrive.

Over the last 4 years, the Community team have:
Treated 2061 people for jiggers and bedbugs, enabling them to return to school or work after being outcast due to infection
Drawing alongside 50 very vulnerable girls and helping them increase their self-esteem through our girls clubs

Made over 300 home visits, transforming once-isolated widows into valued members of their community

Supported 69 of the most vulnerable community members - often elderly or chronically unwell- restoring dignity through strengthened family ties
